A little bit about me
I’m an illustrator born and based in Madrid. I’m passionate about letters, the old-fashioned, the handmade and the classic businesses and bars that transmit love and care for their work. I am also passionate about food: all of it. So, in general.
The passion for lettering has gradually changed my work from being more focused on illustration to take it almost entirely to calligraphy, lettering and typography. I move comfortably in both digital and handmade environments, but it is in the latter where I get dirty, touch the materials, tools and so on where I enjoy the most.
In addition to my work, I am part of Familia Plómez: a cultural association that tries to keep letterpress printing alive from its small workshop in the heart of Madrid. We teach workshops, give talks and do some commercial and other private and personal work.
And I am also part of Fetén Letters, a group of romantic lovers of classic signs and typography in Madrid with a very ambitious project: to meet once a month to walk street by street all over Madrid and photograph and catalog all the historical typographic elements we find.

Calligraphy, lettering and typography, the 3 pillars.
As I said, I do all kinds of work around the letters, for all tastes and colors. From the most handmade to the most digital, alone or in a team. And without ever forgetting illustration, which continues to accompany me on many occasions as a complement to these works.
Calligraphy
I have done protocol works such as invitations for weddings, private commissions, customization of different elements or actions in events. They are totally handmade works that require a lot of patience, care and a hand in constant training.
Lettering
Here is where I develop a greater variety of works and more known since, besides being the most visual, they are the most widespread. This part ranges from manual lettering on blackboards, glass, murals or even clothing, to logos for small or large businesses or letterings for advertising campaigns of all kinds.
Typography
Little by little both calligraphy and, above all, lettering have been taking me to the field of typography. Here I have started to work developing some typographies for commercial or even corporate campaigns. My field is mainly focused on display or large size, where the drawing and originality have a greater weight against the reading but without losing sight of it.

As a teacher
In addition to my freelance work, I have been teaching calligraphy for four years at IED Madrid, where I feel very happy to be able to transmit a small part of this vast world of history and knowledge to the designers of the future.
I have also taught lettering and calligraphy workshops at the same IED, at the University of Vigo or at the Art School of Toledo.
If you are interested in doing some kind of workshop, please contact me and we can see what we can organize.
